Spring Adventure
The Trout Shops’ 2006 Belize trip has been finalized and we’re doing a two location split trip to a couple of very distinct locations during the course of our 8 nights in Belize
April 28-May 5, 2006
Southwater Caye/San Pedro
The first 4 days of the trip will be spent out on the reef at Southwater Caye. This beautiful tropical island is a half hour boat ride from the coastal town of Dangriga and is situated right on Belize’s world famous Barrier Reef. This island offers a wide variety of fishing situations, but for most experienced anglers, Southwater means only one thing. Permit! The flats to the north and south of the caye are hard packed coral flats and are excellent for wading. This is probably the best area in the world to wade for your shots at tailing permit in between 1-3 feet of water. High tides are late morning to early afternoon. The moon phase will be very small. You'll see some Permit. Other species that guests can expect to fish for are tarpon and bonefish. If the tuna are outside the reef, guests can head out with their guide to try for some of the fly tackle busting pelagics, which are often found no more than a mile from the lodge. The fishing days at Southwater Caye are April 29, 30 and May 1.
On May 2 the group will travel from Southwater Caye up to the bustling beach town of San Pedro, in Northern Belize, where we’ll spend 4 nights. We’re booked into the Sun Breeze Hotel, which is perfectly located in the heart of town, and has all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. A/C, pool, cable TV, and an excellent bar and restaurant on site are what guests can expect. The waters around the town of San Pedro are known for spring tarpon and that’s why we’re going there. There are also plenty of bonefish and opportunities for permit and perhaps even the odd snook here and there. San Pedro offers numerous bars and restaurants and we’ve set the trip up where we’ll be dining at a different restaurant each night while in town. The fishing days in San Pedro are May 3, 4 and 5.
The price of the trip is includes 8 nights lodging, 6 days of fishing, all meals, air, ground and water transportation within the country. All our in country flights are on privately chartered aircraft, which means no delays or hassles. We’ve set this trip up to give our guests a good sample of two very different parts of the country. Southwater is a small island quiet island in a remote part of Southern Belize while San Pedro is thriving beach community in north of the country.
Two very different locations equal one excellent trip.
$2900 per person based upon double occupancy.
Belize Flats Fishing Expeditions will be our host at both locations. As of January 29, we have 2 spots available. For more info, contact Jerry at The Trout Shop 800-337-8528 or email info@belizeflyshop.com .
